The Gold Coast is set to welcome a new iconic landmark, a Trump Tower, as a property developer challenges misconceptions about the brand. The $1.5 billion project, signed by Altus CEO David Young and The Trump Organization, promises to be a luxurious addition to the city's skyline. But here's where it gets controversial... The tower, at 3 Trickett Street, Surfers Paradise, will be Australia's tallest building, standing at 340 meters with 91 stories. However, plans for an even taller tower, 53 meters higher, are already in the works just north of the proposed site. Mr. Young, who cold-called Ivanka Trump 19 years ago to propose the project, believes the modern Trump brand is all about high-end design and fit-outs, challenging the outdated image of gaudy gold-plated fixtures. The project will follow the Trump design manual, similar to towers in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
