Marathon Guide: Perimeter Map - Loot Spots, POIs, and PvP Tips (2026)

Embark on an exhilarating journey with the Perimeter Map Guide, your ultimate companion for discovering the best loot locations, points of interest (POIs), and invaluable tips in Marathon!

Perimeter, the inaugural map in Marathon, offers an immersive extraction shooter experience without the gameplay restrictions of the Beginner variant. This expansive map, with its key POIs strategically segmented, allows players to explore and loot freely, avoiding constant encounters with USEC forces.

But here's where it gets controversial...

Perimeter, despite its simplicity, presents a unique challenge. It's a flat zone with key locations spread out, sitting on the edge of the colony's expansion area. Guarded by USEC, this barren location often attracts Runners seeking quick loot or a chance to take down USEC forces.

The key POIs on Perimeter include North Relay, Station, Hauler, Overflow, and South Relay. Additionally, there are smaller regions like Data Wall, Tunnels, East Wall, Ravine, and Columns, each offering its own set of challenges and rewards.

And this is the part most people miss...

The best loot spots in Perimeter (Beginner) are the aforementioned key POIs. These areas house rarer weapons and loot, and some even require specific keycards or unlock codes to access exclusive crates. However, be cautious, as these areas are heavily guarded by USEC forces, so you'll need to eliminate them or keep an eye out for reinforcements during your looting endeavors.

Let's delve into the key loot spots and buildings within each POI:

North Relay:
- NuCaloric Research Building: The second floor holds rare implants, valuables, and transmutable resources. Keep an eye out for rare lockboxes, but remember, they're scarce in the Beginner iteration.

Station:
- Tox Clear Room: Located in the southwestern building, this room contains a set of treasures.

Hauler:
- Upper Floor Locked Room: This area boasts extremely valuable loot, but you'll need the Hauler Observation Key, either from a previous run or your current one, to access it.

Overflow:
- Central Building Locked Room: A challenging room guarded by a priority enemy target, making it a difficult but rewarding loot opportunity.

Perimeter PvP Tips:
Perimeter offers a unique blend of buildings and open rural hillsides, making it a challenging map to master. To avoid getting ambushed by other runners or lone Rook runners, stick to buildings as much as possible. Utilize the indoor spaces and avoid standing out in the open for extended periods.

The map's verticality, thanks to the hillsides and buildings, can be a game-changer. Gaining higher ground with cover can give you an advantage over USEC and enemy runners. Remember to have an escape route planned and consider the height elevation of buildings, walkways, and rockfaces to gain an edge in gunfights.

This guide is a work in progress and will be updated throughout the Server Slam.
